Greg and Sheila have been friends since they were 10 years old. Even at that time, they shared a love for God. In their last year of high school, they both had life-changing encounters with Jesus Christ that shifted the course of their future plans. Married in 1985, they began working at a street mission in South Carolina. From there they did further Biblical studies and were sent to pastor in Newfoundland for two years. They then moved to Barrie and started Big Church in 1995. Their journeys have also taken them to several other countries in the world to proclaim the good news! Both Greg and Sheila are artists and enjoy God’s creation in the outdoors. Together they have three sons, three daughters-in-law and nine grandchildren. It is their desire to see Jesus glorified in all they do and that all would come to know His saving power.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

We believe that the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the only divinely inspired and infallible written revelation of God. It is our only guide and final authority in matters pertaining to faith and life.

We believe in three ordinances: Believer’s Water Baptism, Baptism in the Holy Spirit and our Lord’s Supper.

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe that God is the creator, upholder and governor of all things; that He is above all His works and in them all; and that He made man in His own image, for fellowship with Him, free and able to choose between good and evil, and responsible to his Maker and Lord.

We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, His conception by the Holy Spirit, His birth of the virgin Mary, His real but sinless humanity, His voluntary humiliation in life as a Man of Sorrows culminating in His substitution and atoning death as a sacrifice for sin, His bodily resurrection from the dead, His ascension into heaven as the only and eternal mediator between God and man and His coming again in power and glory.

We believe in the personality and deity of the Holy Spirit through Whom man is born again to saving repentance and faith, and by Whom the saints are sanctified and empowered to live a godly life.

We believe that the salvation of man is solely by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, and that the saved partake of eternal life now and will share in that glorious resurrection which is to come.

We believe that man in consequence of the Fall is utterly sinful and therefore lost, and the unsaved will be raised for Final Judgment.

We believe in the spiritual unity of all who truly believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, that is, the only holy universal Church, which is the body of Christ.
